Roofing help wanted: Travis's home in Christchurch
The roof at Travis's home is failing; materials are donated and we need hands.

I'm a retired bus driver living in Christchurch. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 2 places, and the kids' bedroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $2,700, which isn't something I can pay.
The good news: a local hardware store has donated the shingles and underlay. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for a small crew who can help over one long weekend.
Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is to be comfortable with heights or willing to help from the ground. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks.
The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too.
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

stay strong, Travis. Hope you get there. My neighbor in Mumbai donated after I showed her your page. God bless.
Good luck. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. I hope September is when things finally get easier. Love from Lahore.
Thanks for sharing this, Travis. Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day
