Roofing help wanted: Delilah's home in New Orleans
The roof at Delilah's home is failing; materials are donated and we need hands.
🇺🇸 Louisiana, United States829 views
I'm a disabled veteran living in New Orleans. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 4 places, and the kids' bedroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $5,250, which isn't something I can pay.
The good news: a local hardware store has donated the corrugated iron sheets and timber. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for anyone handy who can help over one long weekend.
Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is work boots and a hat. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks.
The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too.
Thank you for reading my story.

Hang in there, Delilah. Your post was clear and honest.
Rooting for you, Delilah. Looking forward to the next update. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
so sorry you're going through this. Hope you get there. Put this on a community board in Boulogne-Billancourt this morning.
Wishing you the best, Delilah. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Wish I lived closer to Jakarta Barat so I could bring a meal. Love from Kasarani.
Your post was clear and honest. My neighbor in Iloilo City donated after I showed her your page. Take care.
