Rides to dialysis three times a week for Kimani in Nairobi
A rota of drivers to the Nairobi Kidney Centre would keep Kimani on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.
🇰🇪 Nairobi, Nairobi, KenyaPosted Oct 1, 2026290 views
Kimani has been on dialysis for 3 years and until recently drove to the Nairobi Kidney Centre alone. After surgery on their hand, Kimani can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week.
We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 11 km each way.
Kimani is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food.
Please say which day works for you in the comments.
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Looking forward to the next update. My colleague had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Love from Berlin!
stay strong. Get well soon. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Nairobi.
