Rides to dialysis three times a week for Hellen in Jinja
Hellen needs dialysis three times a week and has lost the ability to drive; volunteer drivers can each take one day.
🇺🇬 Jinja, Eastern Region, Uganda464 views
Hellen has been on dialysis for 4 years and until recently drove to the Jinja Dialysis Unit alone. After a minor stroke, Hellen can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week.
We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 33 km each way.
Hellen is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food.
Please say which day works for you in the comments.
Thank you so much.

Hope it all works out, Wangari. Hope you get there. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best.

Thinking of you and your family. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My neighbor in Los Angeles donated after I showed her your page. Take care.
