Chamari has been on dialysis for 4 years and until recently drove to the Kandy Dialysis Unit alone. After surgery on their hand, Chamari can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 17 km each way. Chamari is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. I hope life is good to you.

  • Your post was clear and honest. Thinking of Kandy

    • Take care, Nilmini. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Kandy.

      • Hope things get better soon, Nilmini. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.

        • So sorry you're going through this, Nilmini. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Love from Accra!

          • Hope this works out for you. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Kaduna
