Rides to dialysis three times a week for Ali in Lahore

A rota of drivers to the Lahore Dialysis Unit would keep Ali on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Ali has been on dialysis for 1 years and until recently drove to the Lahore Dialysis Unit alone. After a foot amputation, Ali can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 11 km each way. Ali is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

  • Take care. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Lahore.

    • Thanks for sharing this, Imran. This could happen to any of us. Thinking of Lahore.

      • Hope you get there. Wish I lived closer to Hồ Chí Minh City so I could bring a meal. Greetings from Brescia.

        • Hang in there, Imran. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Blessings.

          • Good luck, Imran. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I hope November is when things finally get easier.
