Restoring the Lotus wetland: a volunteer-led project in Malang
Help us clean and replant the Lotus wetland before the March planting window closes.
🇮🇩 Malang, East Java, Indonesia1,263 views
The Lotus wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This December, 36 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 66 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $95
• Tools and protective gear: $90
• Waste removal and skip hire: $130
• Signage and educational materials: $35
Thank you so much.

thinking of you, Sari. I hope things turn around soon. All the best!
Thinking of you, Sari. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.
gave what I could, wish it was more. I went through something like this 13 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Malang.
Wishing you peace. I hope things turn around soon. Greetings from Abuja.
hope things get better soon, Sari. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. God bless.
