Mumbai
The Lotus hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This December, 117 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 60 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage. Where the $350 goes: • Native saplings and stakes: $155 • Tools and protective gear: $100 • Waste removal and skip hire: $80 • Signage and educational materials: $15 Thank you for reading my story.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Put this on a community board in Makassar this morning. Thinking of Mumbai.

Hope it all works out, Isha. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Love from Quezon City.

Wishing you peace, Isha. Shared it with a few friends. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. God bless.

thinking of you. More neighborhoods should do this. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Blessings

Sending good thoughts, Isha. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
