Restoring the Jacaranda riverbank: a volunteer-led project in Rohini
Volunteers are restoring the Jacaranda riverbank in Rohini; $350 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.

The Jacaranda riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 111 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 183 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $220
• Tools and protective gear: $60
• Waste removal and skip hire: $55
• Signage and educational materials: $15
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

You're not alone, Sachin. More neighborhoods should do this. Take care.
Thanks for sharing this. Your post was clear and honest. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. God bless.
you're not alone, Sachin. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. God bless.
great idea, hope you get there. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money!
Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 14 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.
