Restoring the Acacia hillside: a volunteer-led project in Nakuru
Help us clean and replant the Acacia hillside before the November planting window closes.
Anywhere in the world1,851 views
The Acacia hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 118 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 142 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $400 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $210
• Tools and protective gear: $70
• Waste removal and skip hire: $85
• Signage and educational materials: $35

Good luck, Daniel. More neighborhoods should do this.
You're not alone, Daniel. More neighborhoods should do this.
hope things get better soon, Daniel. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Wish I lived closer to Narayanganj so I could bring a meal.
hope it all works out. I hope things turn around soon. My neighbor in Spanish Town donated after I showed her your page.
Best of luck, Daniel. This could happen to any of us. Greetings from Wiesbaden
So sorry you're going through this, Daniel. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I have a 11 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Love from Palermo.
