Restoring Pioneer Creek: a volunteer-led project in Derry
A neighborhood-led restoration of Pioneer Creek needs $2,200 for saplings and equipment.

Pioneer Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This April, 68 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 139 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,200 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,450
• Waste removal and skip hire: $530
• Signage and educational materials: $220

Sure. The biggest one is native saplings and stakes, $1,450. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. It helps to be asked.
