Restoring Liberty Beach: a volunteer-led project in București
Volunteers are restoring Liberty Beach in București; $850 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇷🇴 Romania432 views
Liberty Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This March, 96 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 135 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $850 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $270
• Signage and educational materials: $35
• Native saplings and stakes: $545
Every share and every dollar helps.

How is Andreea doing now?
Thinking of you and your family, Andreea. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Wish I lived closer to Medan so I could bring a meal. Blessings.
Wishing you the best, Andreea. Shared it with a few friends. We're a small family in Södertälje but we're thinking of you.
Hope things get better soon, Andreea. I hope things turn around soon. Thinking of București.
