Restoring Jacaranda Creek: a volunteer-led project in Tucson
Help us clean and replant Jacaranda Creek before the August planting window closes.
Anywhere in the world1,059 views
Jacaranda Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 106 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 94 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,600 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $930
• Tools and protective gear: $410
• Signage and educational materials: $260
I hope life is good to you.

Hope things get better soon, Laura. More neighborhoods should do this. My husband and I read this together
shared this with my family. We're a small family in Ribeirão Preto but we're thinking of you. Take care.
So sorry you're going through this, Laura. I hope things turn around soon. I have a 13 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Blessings.
You're not alone. Great idea, hope you get there. After 12 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything. All the best.
Praying for you. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I went through something like this 2 years ago and strangers helped me out.
You're not alone. Your post was clear and honest. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from Lagos
