Resettlement support for 5 people arriving in Victoria
After fleeing Ethiopia, the Petrenko family has arrived in Victoria with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

My family left Ethiopia 6 months ago after our home was destroyed. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Victoria. We're a family of four and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 3 months of rent, and that support ends in October.
I was a pharmacist in Ethiopia, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent).
Where the $4,150 goes:
• Rent deposit and first month: $2,250
• Beds, table and basic furniture: $730
• Winter clothing and school supplies: $470
• Language classes and bus passes: $560
• Phone and internet for school and job search: $140
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Any update on how things are going in Victoria?
sending love, Baptiste. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Take care.
Looking forward to the next update. Greetings from Iztapalapa.
Rooting for you, Baptiste. This could happen to any of us. Thinking of Victoria.
