My family left Afghanistan 10 months ago after we could no longer live safely. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Tampa. We're a family of eight and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 3 months of rent, and that support ends in October. I was a shopkeeper in Afghanistan, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. Funds are managed by the Tampa Refugee Support Network, a registered organization, which pays the landlord and suppliers on the family's behalf. Where the $3,800 goes: • Language classes and bus passes: $530 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $270 • Rent deposit and first month: $2,000 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $1,000 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people. - Logan

  • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My father had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Thinking of Tampa.

    • Sending good thoughts, Logan. Hope this works out for you. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.

      • wishing you peace. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't give up. Take care.

        • You're not alone, Logan. This could happen to any of us.
