I'm Renate, 16, in Form 6. My parents work long hours and didn't go to university, so there's no one at home who can help me understand applications, deadlines or financial aid. I'd like to study computer science.
I have a top-of-class average, I volunteer at the local library and I have a draft of my personal statement. What I need is someone to read my essays, tell me honestly what's weak, and explain how scholarships work.
I'm looking for an hour a week until November. We can do it by video from anywhere. My mother will be at home during every call, and the school counselor knows about this request.
Thanks for reading. It took me a long time to ask.
I hope life is good to you.

Thinking of you, Renate. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Bangkok.
Sending love, Renate. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 19 years in social work I know how hard it is to ask for anything
take care, Renate. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. My husband and I read this together. God bless.
