The winter storm hit the Marketplace district on 1 March. My home was one of 23 damaged, and 9 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $3,400 goes: • Tools and labor for repairs: $880 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $1,050 • Clean water and purification supplies: $500 • Food parcels for displaced families: $970 Thanks for reading all this. - Christian

  • More neighborhoods should do this. Thinking of Los Angeles.

    • You're not alone, Christian. I hope things turn around soon. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Take care!

      • Thinking of you and your family, Christian. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Blessings
