Rebuilding after the typhoon: the Old Town district needs your help

Neighbors in the Old Town district are rebuilding after the typhoon; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

The typhoon hit the Old Town district on 6 August. My home was one of 54 damaged, and 4 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $5,850 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $2,500 • Clean water and purification supplies: $560 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $840 • Food parcels for displaced families: $490 • Tools and labor for repairs: $1,460 Thanks for being kind about this. - Tatsuya

Good luck, Tatsuya. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. God bless.

Sending love, Tatsuya. Hope you get there. After 8 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything

Roofing sheets and timber is $2,500 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Let me know if you want more detail.

Hang in there. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I went through something like this 4 years ago and strangers helped me out. Blessings.
