Plant 917 native trees around the Jacaranda wetland in Dhaka
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Jacaranda wetland needs $150 for saplings and equipment.
🇧🇩 Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh701 views
The Jacaranda wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 46 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 61 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $150 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $50
• Signage and educational materials: $25
• Tools and protective gear: $75
Thank you for reading my story.

You're not alone. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Sent it to 11 people at work. God bless.
Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Sent it to 19 people at work. Love from Jakarta Barat.
Best of luck. More neighborhoods should do this. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust
Hope it all works out, Tania. Great idea, hope you get there. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
