Plant 1,600 native trees around the Cedar canal in Makati
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Cedar canal needs $250 for saplings and equipment.
🇵🇭 Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines845 views
The Cedar canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 99 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 186 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $250 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $130
• Tools and protective gear: $35
• Waste removal and skip hire: $55
• Signage and educational materials: $30
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Stay strong. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected
Best of luck, Rey. Shared it with a few friends. Love from Albany.
Wishing you the best. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care

Your post was clear and honest. After 22 years in customer support I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
