Plant 1,450 native trees around the Acacia wetland in Birmingham
Volunteers are restoring the Acacia wetland in Birmingham; $2,750 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.

The Acacia wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 69 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 71 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,750 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,750
• Tools and protective gear: $360
• Waste removal and skip hire: $500
• Signage and educational materials: $140
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Shared it with a few friends. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Rohini.
Wishing you peace, Ryan. More neighborhoods should do this. Sent it to 21 people at work. God bless.
Great idea, hope you get there. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from Bengaluru.
Hope it all works out. Hope this works out for you. Thinking of Birmingham.
Good luck, Ryan. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We're a small family in Dublin but we're thinking of you. Thinking of Birmingham.
