The landslide hit Old Town village on 16 September. My home was one of 84 damaged, and 2 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $1,700 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $690 • Clean water and purification supplies: $145 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $240 • Food parcels for displaced families: $380 • Tools and labor for repairs: $245 Thanks for reading all this.

Thank you. If you're in Palmira I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Let me know if you want more detail.

    • This could happen to any of us. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Blessings

      • Rooting for you, Amparo. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Blessings.

        • Hope things get better soon. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Sent it to 16 people at work.
