Osama needs a lift to the Cairo Kidney Centre - can you help one day a week?

Osama needs dialysis three times a week and has lost the ability to drive; volunteer drivers can each take one day.

Osama has been on dialysis for 5 years and until recently drove to the Cairo Kidney Centre alone. After an eyesight problem, Osama can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 26 km each way. Osama is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Glad we found this place.

  • thinking of you and your family, Bilal. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I have a 17 year old who wants to send good wishes too!

    • Thanks for sharing this. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best
