Olumide is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a degree in civil engineering at Lagos University, and is one semester away from graduating. He has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $600. The registrar has said Olumide can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Olumide has a top-ten-percent average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Olumide would lose his place and scholarship eligibility. Olumide isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $600 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $400 • Textbooks and materials: $35 • Final term tuition: $165 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

  • You're not alone, Ife. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.
