Fernanda is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a degree in social work at Barcelona Community College, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $2,450. The registrar has said Fernanda can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Fernanda has a distinction average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Fernanda would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Fernanda isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
