Emilio is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an agriculture degree at Riverside Polytechnic, and is one term away from graduating. He has worked as a library assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $4,150.
The registrar has said Emilio can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Emilio has a distinction average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Emilio would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Emilio isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $4,150 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $1,900
• Final term tuition: $2,050
• Exam and lab fees: $110
• Textbooks and materials: $90
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
