Nisha was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in March. The surgeon at Sherbrooke University Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $14,750, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $7,400 short.
my wife has been in and out of Sherbrooke University Hospital since March. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $14,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Nisha struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Nisha won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
