Need strong backs and a van: moving Kimani to safer housing
A short, concrete way to help: a few hours of lifting and loading in Mukono.
🇺🇬 Mukono, Central Region, Uganda914 views
After the rent increase, I found a safe, affordable apartment in Mukono, and the lease starts on Sunday. I have my elderly father, a few pieces of furniture and no money for movers.
I'm hoping for 3-4 helpers for about four hours. If you have a van or pickup, that would help enormously - I'll cover fuel.
The old place is on the fourth floor walk-up and the new place has just one flight of stairs. We'll do it in two trips. Lunch and cold drinks are on me.
I know this is a lot to ask of strangers. I'd be happy to share references from my landlord and my employer.
Thanks for being kind about this.

Good luck, Kimani. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. God bless.
Keep going, Kimani. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better
You're not alone. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. Put this on a community board in Warri this morning. Take care.
Hang in there. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Sent it to 25 people at work. Love from Berlin.
Wishing you peace, Kimani. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We're a small family in Khon Kaen but we're thinking of you. Love from Khon Kaen.
