Namukasa can't leave home - help build a ramp
Help Namukasa regain independence: a simple ramp build.
馃嚢馃嚜 Nairobi, KenyaPosted Oct 1, 2026327 views
Namukasa has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Namukasa can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the local accessibility standard of 1:12 slope, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate twelve hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Namukasa's family will cook lunch for the team.
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
