My taxi: Elijah's only way to earn a living

Without my taxi Elijah can't work; a $1,150 repair would put him back on the road.

I make my living with my taxi. 4 weeks ago the rear axle failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $1,150. Without the vehicle I earn nothing. I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask. I support my younger brothers and sisters. Before the breakdown I worked nine hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next four months if I can just get the vehicle working. I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here. All money will go toward the parts and labor on the estimate, with a small amount for road tax and insurance renewal. Where the $1,150 goes: • Road tax and insurance renewal: $165 • rear axle replacement (parts): $810 • Towing and inspection: $175 Every share and every dollar helps.

Updates from Elijah

  1. Thank you all. We're at 5% now ($60). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the mechanic and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Wanted to say thank you properly. 3% funded and the first invoice got paid this week. - Elijah
