Mercedes is isolated after a stroke: a call a week would help

No advice needed - just a kind ear and some conversation for 30 minutes a week.

After a stroke, I have been mostly housebound for 6 weeks. My family live far away, and the days can feel very long. I'm not looking for therapy - I've that covered - but for conversation. I'm hoping for someone who can call for about 30 minutes once a week whenever suits us both. I like music, books and gardening, and can listen to anything. This can be from anywhere in the world as long as you speak English. We can arrange the calls through the platform, with email shared only when we're both comfortable. Thanks for even thinking about it. Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

  • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Love from Kathmandu.

    • Hang in there, Mercedes. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Jacksonville

      • I hope things turn around soon. I went through something like this 2 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Jacksonville.

rooting for you, Mercedes. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. All the best.

          • Good luck. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
