Melanie needs someone who understands: peer support in recovery

A weekly call with someone who has been through it - that's the whole ask.

I'm ninety days into recovery from gambling addiction. I attend meetings and see a counselor, but the weeks between meetings are the hardest. I'd love a mentor - someone who has a year or more of recovery and who would be willing to talk once a week. I'm not looking for a replacement for treatment. I'm looking for someone who understands what a bad Tuesday night feels like. I'd prefer someone who's happy to do video calls. Any country is fine. I'll be respectful of your time and boundaries, and happy to pay it forward later. Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

  • Sending strength, Melanie. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Take care.

    • Rooting for you. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Los Angeles.

      • Take care, Melanie. Hope you get there. God bless

        • Thinking of you and your family. Hope you get there. I went through something like this 12 years ago and strangers helped me out. God bless

          • Hope things get better soon, Melanie. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. I hope November is when things finally get easier. All the best.
