Meena needs two washing machines and a dryer to reopen a laundry service
Meena has run a laundry service for nine years; floodwater destroyed the equipment, and $150 will put it back on its feet.

For nine years I have run a laundry service in Mumbai. In May, floodwater took two washing machines and a dryer. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Tuesday, and I employed 1 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 6 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $150 goes:
• Working capital for the first month: $50
• Shop repairs and licensing: $80
• Initial stock: detergent and packaging: $20
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
Updates from Meena
Update from Mumbai: the plan for initial stock: detergent and packaging is now scheduled. We're at 49% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($69 in total) the plan for working capital for the first month is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Thinking of you and your family, Meena. I'd happily buy from you once you're back up. God bless.
is there anything that isn't money that would help Meena?
Stay strong. Small businesses are the heart of Mumbai. Hope you're open again soon
Thanks for sharing this, Meena. Looking forward to the next update. After 27 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything. All the best.
