Let's build a solar-powered water pump together in Johannesburg
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at Jacaranda Park that will serve 362 neighbors.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Jacaranda Park, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $280, and the remaining cost is $1,050.
It will serve about 362 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Materials: $830
• Permits and inspections: $80
• Tools hire and delivery: $140
