Let's build a solar-powered water pump together in Bang Khen
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at the old Baobab bus depot that will serve 482 neighbors.
🇹🇭 Bang Khen, Bangkok, Thailand2,148 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Baobab bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,000.
It will serve about 482 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Materials: $710
• Permits and inspections: $50
• Safety equipment and signage: $85
• Tools hire and delivery: $155

You're not alone, Nattapong. Great idea, hope you get there. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
Hang in there, Nattapong. More neighborhoods should do this. All the best.
