For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $600. It will serve about 121 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $600 goes: • Materials: $510 • Safety equipment and signage: $45 • Permits and inspections: $45 If you're reading this, thank you.

Thank you. If you're in Manila I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Good question.

      • Thanks for sharing this. Hope this works out for you. All the best

        • Sending good thoughts, Nenita. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Blessings

          • Praying for you. More neighborhoods should do this.

            • You're not alone. Your post was clear and honest. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Take care.
