Let's build a sensory garden for children with autism together in Lagos
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a sensory garden for children with autism - we need $450 for materials.
🇳🇬 Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria520 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $210, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 85 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
• Materials: $330
• Permits and inspections: $55
Glad we found this place.
