Kikuyu
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $250. It will serve about 292 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $250 goes: • Materials: $160 • Permits and inspections: $40 • Safety equipment and signage: $40 • Tools hire and delivery: $10 I hope life is good to you.
