Let's build a rainwater harvesting system together in Ogbomosho
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at Union Primary School that will serve 377 neighbors.
🇳🇬 Ogbomosho, Oyo, Nigeria606 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $210, and the remaining cost is $200.
It will serve about 377 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $200 goes:
• Materials: $110
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $25
• Tools hire and delivery: $25
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
