Let's build a rainwater harvesting system together in Manukau
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the Jacaranda health centre yard that will serve 398 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,950.
It will serve about 398 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,950 goes:
• Materials: $950
• Permits and inspections: $240
• Safety equipment and signage: $380
• Tools hire and delivery: $380
