For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia community hall, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $650. It will serve about 377 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $650 goes: • Materials: $550 • Tools hire and delivery: $25 • Safety equipment and signage: $75 Thank you for reading my story.

  • Thinking of you. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I hope November is when things finally get easier.

    • Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I have a 8 year old who wants to send good wishes too. God bless!

      • So sorry you're going through this, Uche. Shared it with a few friends. Blessings.

        • Thanks for sharing this, Uche. This could happen to any of us. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.

          • Rooting for you. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
