Let's build a free library and reading room together in Tallahassee
Volunteers in Tallahassee are raising $3,600 for a free library and reading room at the old Baobab bus depot.
🇺🇸 United States2,629 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Baobab bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $3,600.
It will serve about 356 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,600 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $240
• Materials: $3,100
• Permits and inspections: $260
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

How is Peng doing now?
hang in there. This could happen to any of us. We're a small family in Takoradi but we're thinking of you.
Is there anything that isn't money that would help Peng?
Thank you. If you're in Tallahassee I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Happy to explain more.
