Let's build a free library and reading room together in Phoenix
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a free library and reading room - we need $4,000 for materials.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $4,000.
It will serve about 398 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $4,000 goes:
• Materials: $2,850
• Permits and inspections: $450
• Safety equipment and signage: $310
• Tools hire and delivery: $390

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. materials comes first ($2,850) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Happy to explain more.
