Let's build a free library and reading room together in Kampala

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 270 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $300 goes: • Tools hire and delivery: $30 • Permits and inspections: $35 • Materials: $235 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
