Let's build a free library and reading room together in Edinburgh

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Harmony bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,150. It will serve about 485 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,150 goes: • Materials: $1,400 • Permits and inspections: $340 • Safety equipment and signage: $185 • Tools hire and delivery: $225 Thank you for reading my story.
