For three years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Unity Park, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,150. It will serve about 290 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $2,150 goes: • Materials: $1,050 • Permits and inspections: $330 • Safety equipment and signage: $390 • Tools hire and delivery: $380 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
