Let's build a community garden together in Kathmandu
Volunteers in Kathmandu are raising $300 for a community garden at the Baobab community hall.
Anywhere in the world295 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 223 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $300 goes:
• Materials: $190
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $50
• Tools hire and delivery: $15
Every share and every dollar helps.

Stay strong. Great idea, hope you get there. My husband and I read this together.
thinking of you, Rekha. Gave what I could, wish it was more. God bless
Take care. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. God bless.
rooting for you, Rekha. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Love from Lagos
