Lasanthi's final semester of a nursing degree in Colombo
A first-generation student, Lasanthi needs help covering tuition for the final stretch of a nursing degree.

Lasanthi is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a nursing degree at Colombo Community College, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $650.
The registrar has said Lasanthi can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Lasanthi has a top-ten-percent average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Lasanthi would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Lasanthi isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $650 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $320
• Final term tuition: $270
• Exam and lab fees: $20
• Textbooks and materials: $40
