Knee replacement surgery for Jung-ho: covering what insurance won't
After gallstones with repeated infections, Jung-ho was cleared for knee replacement surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Jung-ho was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in June. The surgeon at Los Angeles General Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,250, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $3,200 short.
my husband has been in and out of Los Angeles General Hospital since June. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Jung-ho struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Jung-ho won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Jung-ho.
Sure. The biggest one is physiotherapy sessions, $680. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks, that means a lot.
