The heating account is 2 months behind. Barasa received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on August unless $150 is paid. He had never been late before May's medical emergency. Barasa called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $30 first, which isn't available. The household includes a newborn, and going through the cold months without heating isn't safe. The children would have no light to study by. Barasa is working on getting back on his feet, and wants to pay it forward once steady. The money will go directly to the utility provider, and I'll post the paid statement here. Where the $150 goes: • Heating arrears: $60 • Reconnection and late fees: $15 • Down payment on a payment plan: $75 Glad we found this place.

  • Take care. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I went through something like this 5 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Kasarani.

Thanks for sharing this, Mwende. Your post was clear and honest. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best.
